Session 1: Basics and Background of the Natural Medicine Health Act
This is the first of a series of in-depth conversations with the community about various legal and business issues involving Colorado’s recently enacted natural medicine laws. Each session will provide ample time for an extended Q&A with community members.
This first live webinar event will cover the basics of Colorado’s new laws as well as various federal law issues that healing centers, facilitators, cultivators, and manufacturers will need to consider when organizing and operating their businesses.

Emerge attorneys look forward to hosting a series of online conversations specifically for members of the community – including individuals, practitioners, clinicians, business owners, and interested citizens – to answer questions and talk about a variety of important issues, including:
- What licenses are required to participate in the regulated system?
- When can I open and operate a psilocybin business?
- What risks do I face from a federal law perspective if I own or operate a natural medicine business?
- Will retail sales or microdosing be allowed?
- Can anyone buy and/ or sell natural medicines, or are sales limited by law?
- What about churches and ceremonial or religious use?

This free virtual event series will feature Kaci Hohmann, Matt Brockmeier, and Dave Kopilak, who are all members of the firm’s Psychedelics Practice Group. Sessions will also include guest speakers from time to time and ample time for an extended Q&A session with community members.
